FAQ

Country Boarding

I am going away and would like to board my dog. How do I get started?

Please contact us through the website or call us at 646.753.2529 and we will get back to you within a timely manner to set up an appointment to meet.

Where will my dog sleep?

We have a cozy dog room for our boarders to get their well-deserved rest. Dogs can pick their own place to sleep, there are plenty of beds, pillows, and blankets to choose from. If your dog is crated at home or prefers to have their own space at night, we do provide spacious crates as well.

What should I pack?

Please send a sufficient amount of your dog's food. Calculate a little more food than usual since your dog will be getting a lot more exercise than usual. Don't forget any medications with clear instructions. Any flea and tick or heart worm preventative if your dog is due while staying with us, with a date to be administered.

Can I bring my dog's bed and toys?

Please don't. We have plenty of beds and tons of toys that are regularly washed and cleaned. In a setting with other dogs around, many dogs can get territorial or possessive over their own things. We try to avoid anything that could cause conflict.

What about bowls and treats?

No need to bring bowls, we have many kinds in many sizes. If your dog is on a special diet or allergic to certain foods, please feel free to provide special treats for them. Make sure to put your dog's name on it.

Where will my dog play?

We have a fully fenced in dog run. Dogs will be supervised and let out with their new friends to play. Until we get to know your dog better, we will closely monitor new friends to match personalities.

Additionally, dogs will get the chance to go hiking with us in one of many of Westchester's nature reservations.

What vaccinations does my dog need before boarding?

We need proof of Rabies and Bordatella, no exceptions. The papers must be received by email prior to boarding. Additionally, ticks are a common problem in the North East US, so please be sure to send your dog with sufficient flea and tick preventative as well as heart worm preventative. We do our best to check each boarder for ticks on a daily basis, but preventative does half the job. We highly recommend the Seresto Flea and Tick Collar, since it is fairly new to the US market and the little buggers aren't immune to it yet. They do take about a week to become effective, so plan ahead if you choose to use it.

What is your cancellation policy for Country Boarding?

A confirmed booking means that your dog's spot is held for you and other inquiries may be turned down. Therefore, the following cancellation fees will be implemented:

Cancellations 1 week prior to the start of service are subject to a 25% cancellation fee of the total invoice. Cancellations 5-7 days before the start of service will incur a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellations 3 days or less before the start of service will be charged at 75% of the total invoice.
